The City

Written by Chronicler Louis Lafayette

Composed on the Second of May, 1953

A popular “poem” in Neuschwabenland. Unknown origin.

“Already the city lies dead.
A shell of its former self, its people feeling immense dread.
The once prosperous port lies empty, nothing but sorrow ahead.
The city's medieval roads, once a heaven for transportation, now rampant with crime instead.
But there is a dream-One that sees the city in all its former glory, however, that dream only exists in his head.

The City may be empty, forgotten,
Its fields, empty, devoid of its once growing cotton,
However, do not be misled-

The corpse has not yet decayed.
The City still stands.
Oblivion has not yet met her.
Unlike many other cities, this city still stands, waiting to tell its story to its visitors.
So do not fret when you hear the tale of This City-
Make sure you understand it, and make sure it never happens again-make sure you do not misunderstand,
For the tale of the Kninqimor-
Is a tale where you should feel immense pity.”
